What is Dr. Lewenberg's Formula?

Dr. Lewenberg's Formula is the most complete and effective treatment for hair loss in men, women and children, clinically proven to stop hair loss and actively regrow strong, healthy hair.

How does it work?

The formula is a combination of Minoxidil and Tretinoin that uniquely repairs damaged hair follicles by stimulating the adult stem cells in and around the hair follicles. It also suppresses the production of and effects of DHT, the hormone associated with 75% of all cases of hair loss in men and women. The combination of drugs allows patients to regrow longer and thicker hair.

When will I see results?

In most cases, patients will begin to see decreased hair loss after two months. Within three months, the quality of their hair will improve and most patients will begin to grow new hair. Results vary from patient to patient and the condition that caused the hair loss. Please check the timeline to see what kind of results you can expect.

What are the common side effects?

Some people may experience a dry, itchy scalp and irritation (more common with Original than Sensitive formula). These side effects went away with proper application or when patients suspended usage. Where you apply the Formula, your skin will be more prone to sunburn so please wear a hat or sunscreen. The most common side effect is hair.

Isn't it true that Minoxidil causes heart problems?

Minoxidil in tablet form can cause a faster heartbeat and lower blood pressure. Dr. Lewenberg's Formulas have no such side effects, as they are not taken internally, but applied as a hair spray. It contains only 2% Minoxidil, which is does not cause heart complications when used externally.

Are there medications that may interact when using Dr. Lewenberg's Formula?

To our knowledge, certain antibiotics, anti fungals and beta blockers might interact with Dr. Lewenberg's Formula. If you are on any of these types of medications please contact your doctor to see if you can see Dr. Lewenberg's Formula. Contact us before using Dr. Lewenberg's Formula and another topical medicine on the scalp as some may lead to irritation or improper abspotion.

What will my new hair look and feel like?

Dr. Lewenberg's Formula regrows hair that is stronger, healthier and thicker looking. Although the earliest hair growth you see may be immature, further treatment produces new hair with the same consistency as the other hair on your scalp.

How long should I continue to use Dr. Lewenberg's Formula?

Not all conditions require maintenance. However, the most common cause of hair loss is genetic. Male and female pattern hair loss runs in families and gets progressively worse over time. Fortunately, using one of Dr. Lewenberg's Formulas will allow you to grow normal healthy hair, which is very difficult to lose. As long as you wish to maintain it, you will be on our maintenance program, which is quite easy. Once a patient enters this phase, the frequency of application will decrease to once or twice per day.

How much does Dr. Lewenberg's Formula cost?

Treatment is different for each patient, but generally you can regrow your hair for about $1,400 a year. If you need to be on the maintenance plan, the cost diminishes greatly to about $350 a year.

How often do I have to apply Dr. Lewenberg's Formula for best results?

Dr. Lewenberg found that patients have the best results when using the Formula four times per day with four to five hours in between. This allows for continuous absorption and stimulating of the hair cells. If patients apply the formula less frequently they will reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

I've had a hair transplant, will Dr. Lewenberg's Formula help me?

Using one of Dr. Lewenberg's Formulas, a patient can easily and quickly improve their existing hair transplants, even older ones, where the surrounding hair has thinned or fallen out. Patients can make the hair transplant much more effective by thickening the hair around the transplant allowing for a more natural look. In terms of future transplants, using Dr. Lewenberg's Formula will improve patient's existing hair allowing for healthier donor hair and in turn, a better transplant.

What is the difference between Dr. Lewenberg's original and sensitive formulas?

Dr. Lewenberg's Sensitive Formula was designed to reduce the occurrence of irritation and over-drying of hair. Formulated with extra care and without Propylene Glycol, the sensitive formula has been used to treat many patients who were unable to tolerate other solutions with Minoxidil, or who have skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis.

What happens if I stop using Dr. Lewenberg's Formula?

Dr. Lewenberg's Formula can only work over the long term if you continue using it. If you stop applying Dr. Lewenberg's Formula, your hair will go back to it's natural grow/loss cycle but with healthier follicles. If your hair loss was caused by a chronic condition, you will likely lose any hair you have gained unless you begin the maintaince phase.

Does Dr. Lewenberg's Formula work for African Americans?

Yes. Most treatments containing minoxidil can be too harsh or drying for African Americans, and this is one of the reasons that Dr. Lewenberg developed his sensitive formula. Regardless of hair type or cause of hair loss, Dr. Lewenberg's Sensitive Formula will re-grow stronger, healthier and thicker hair.
